The hidden fallout of Israel’s strike on Hamas leaders in Qatar on the heirs of the old powers

In boxing, “fighters hit referees either accidentally, as a result of the referee getting too close to the action or a fighter being “rocked” and disoriented, or intentionally because of extreme anger, recklessness, or misunderstanding the situation.”

Qatar is hosting Hamas leadership and facilitating indirect communication between the Israeli government and the Hamas leadership during the ongoing Hamas-Israeli War (or Gaza War) that started on October 7, 2023. On September 09, 2025, the Israeli government launched an air strike that targeted the Hamas leaders.

No one knows if the Israeli officials who authorized the attack against the Hamas leaders who are staying in Qatar did it as a result of Qatar getting too close to the action after officials in the Israeli government were “rocked” and disoriented from punches that Hamas threw at them or if they did it intentionally due to extreme anger, recklessness, or misunderstanding of the situation.

What I do know is that in boxing, when a fighter hits the referee—as Israel effectively did by targeting Qatar—the consequences are severe, ranging from disqualification and suspension to heavy fines or even criminal charges for assaulting an official.

The good news for Israel following its attack on Qatar is that the judges (the permanent members of the UN Security Council, the United States, Great Britain, France, Russia, and China) did not condemn this Israeli strike when Qatar brought its petition to their chamber against Israel for its violations of the international postwar world order. In addition, we cannot expect Qatar to take any type of retaliation against Israel, because to begin with, this country (and most of the UN member states) has been a biased referee who is aligned with the Israelis against the citizens of Gaza since the start of the Israeli-Hamas war (or Gaza war). Hence, the closing statement of the 2025 Arab-Islamic extraordinary summit that was organized on September 15, 2025, to discuss the repercussions of this strike did not include any decision but recommendations.

The sole outcome Qatar was able to extract from this episode was a U.S. commitment to coordinate with Israel to ensure that such an incident is not repeated. In addition, no one expected that the ineffective and biased UN Security Council would take any disciplinary action against the Israeli government for launching this reckless attack.

The question that begs an answer is how did the heirs of the old power (the families/dynasties that control the monarchs and republics in Western Europe) conclude that if their judges (the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council, the United States, Great Britain, France, Russia, and China) let Israel off the hook and did not demand that this country apologize to Qatar, at least, for violating the sovereignty of this UN member state, that such recourse would contribute toward the rejuvenation of their power (the power of the heirs of the old powers)? This is because the families/dynasties that control the monarchs and republics in Western Europe (the heirs of the old powers) have no way of knowing how the decision of their judges (the permanent members of the UN Security Council, the United States, Great Britain, France, Russia, and China) to let the state of Israel go undisciplined affected the hearts and minds of spectators (people) around the world.

To put it differently, if we have a piece of dry bread and we want to return it to looking as fresh as it did when it came out of the oven (i.e., bring back life to it), we need to heat the bread to break up the starch that became crystallized and hardened. Humans do not behave in the same way dry bread is returned to life when their hearts and minds crystallize and harden. To the contrary, heat (force, injustice, bias, etc.) worsens their state. And so, if force, injustice, bias, etc., does not bring life back into the hearts of people but hardens their hearts and minds even more, how are the families/dynasties that control the monarchs and republics in Western Europe (the heirs of the old powers) concluding that when they let the officials who are steering the ship of state in Israel go undisciplined (i.e., not even apologizing) after those chiefs violated the international postwar world order (i.e., the tool that the heirs of the old powers depend on to rejuvenate their power after they dismantled their empire) that their deeds are prompting people to want to stay with them and to let them have more power than others and not to betray them?

I have no way of knowing how the heirs of the old powers (the families/dynasties that control the monarchs and republics in Western Europe) are concluding that their own deeds are not threatening their superiority and repelling people away from wanting to stay with them. In other words, it is hard to believe that the heirs of the victors of WW2 do not know that history has taught us that only when leaders lead by example do followers observe standards next and that whenever leaders abuse their authority, the consequence of such defiance leads to followers deepening their defiance and stubbornness (hardness). And so if the heirs of the old powers draw their power from the people and know that a nation is not governed by a handful of people but by a multitude of people, how are the heirs of the old powers concluding that they can violate the standards that they want others to observe and still expect people to stay with them and to let them have more power than others?

Once again I have no way of knowing how the heirs of the old powers are concluding that they are invincible and that their megalomania could not drown them in the same way kings were, throughout history, drowned by their own grandiose delusions when they let their excessive imagination lead them to perceive that they are untouchable. What I do know is that people spend their lives creating change, including promoting ideas that are religious, political, or cultural in nature, in the hope that others will embrace these ideas and take action to help make them widely accepted.

The subjective changes or ideas that people effectuate and expect others to accept and act according to their teachings are usually promoted under the pretext of being intended to enjoin good, forbid evil, reform for the sake of improving good, etc. There is another group who use the change they effectuate or ideas they promote to teach others through the transformation that ensues how to deny others rights, position, money, status, title, mate, etc.

As the aforesaid suggests, those who are capable of informing a large target audience about how the specific good or evil that they are selling could increase the happiness of buyers more than what other similar sellers are offering are the ones who arrive at winning the most number of hearts and minds.

Will the decision of the heirs of the old powers (the families/dynasties that control the monarchs and republics in Western Europe) to prevent their judges (the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council, the United States, Great Britain, France, Russia, and China) from condemning and disciplining Israel for violating the international postwar world order that they began to depend on after they dismantled their empires fare well for them and persuade people across the globe to continually engage with them in the same way they were doing it before this attack happened, or will it diminish it?

I do not know the answer to the aforesaid question. What I do know is that whenever a fighter has hit a referee, either accidentally or intentionally, in a boxing match, this incident did not create significant repercussions for the organizers of the venue. But the ruling families and dynasties of the Soviet Union, Ottoman Empire, Roman Empire, and others failed to see how their biased actions or violations of the standards they enforced alienated their citizens and undermined their legitimacy. Their actions and assumptions did have a long-term cost of missed opportunities with significant consequences.

Will the heirs of the old powers (the families/dynasties that control the monarchs and republics in Western Europe) confront the same repercussions that the families/dynasties that were controlling the Soviet Union, the Ottoman Empire, the Roman Empire, etc. dealt with when they ignored how their biased actions or violations of the standards that they were legitimizing and enforcing were influencing citizens?

Once again, I do not know the answer to the aforementioned question. What I do know is that there is a proverb that says, “The pitcher goes often to the well but is broken at last.” Indeed, the Israeli government appeared fortunate during its pager attack on Hezbollah leaders in Lebanon in September 2024 and again during its strike on senior Houthi officials in Yemen in August 2025. However, that streak of luck seems to have ended with the September 2025 attack on Hamas leaders in Qatar.

Indeed, the decision of the heirs of the old powers (the families/dynasties that control the monarchs and republics in Western Europe) to let the Israeli government convert the expulsion of the Palestinians from Gaza into a serial or a saga instead of killing the Palestinians once and for all, since they do not want them to live on this territory, has made it a lot easier for people across the globe to predict what the next serials or chapters in this film that began since WW1 was regarded to have ended will cover.

In conclusion, crises (conflicts and wars) are situations that are easily instigated, as fires are easily ignited. Crises are turning points that behave like winds blowing a fire in different directions, making it impossible to foresee when or how the fire will end.

After the botched strike by the Israeli government on the Hamas leaders in Qatar, how the Israeli-Hamas war will end became clearer. That is to say, what the Israeli leaders need to quickly do to save what their fathers achieved for them is now clear. What remains vague is how the heirs of the old powers (the families/dynasties that control the monarchs and republics in Western Europe) count on making people across the globe stay true to them after these blatant violations of all international laws and conventions by their spoiled son (i.e., the state of Israel) made a significant number of people stop to flatter them with their tongues while their hearts are in denial and knowing that most of them are rebellious. It remains to be seen.
