Face the Music

“Face the music” is an expression that means receiving punishment, accepting unpleasant consequences for one’s actions, or owning up to the responsibility created by one’s actions. The inspiration for this expression is unknown. One thought is that this expression was used in the military, where disgraced officers were dismissed to the beating of drums and band music (Rogue’s March). Others say that this phrase comes from theater, where the actors who ill-performed faced the orchestra pit.

The people who faced the music were not always individuals who had done something wrong or broken a rule. Jesus, for example, was once going to Jerusalem to attend a festival; the people spread clothes on the road in front of him, others put down branches that they had cut from trees, and some were even shouting, “Hooray!” Jesus did not know that a few days later he was going to face the same music. The same people who were shouting hooray and spreading their clothes on the road in front of him were this time shouting, “Crucify him or kill him.”

In 1945, the victors of WW2 (the families/dynasties who control the nations that won World War Two) decided to free all the people of the world (end colonialism) and to invite them back to cooperate with one another based on the principles of equal rights. This mindfulness is unheard of in the history of the world. No conqueror in history has ever invited defeated peoples to cooperate based on the principles of liberal interventionism and self-determination (the Anglosphere) before.

Unfortunately, the victors of WW2 (the old powers: kingdoms and republics of western Europe) failed to achieve this priceless goal of having people prioritize wisdom over form so far. The victors of WW2 (the old powers) and the nations who are allied with them and together form a close web, such as the United States, China, and Russia, failed to prevent conflicts between nations or to make future wars impossible. In fact, as of 2022, the victors of WW2 (kingdoms and republics of western Europe) and their principal protectors (United States, China, and Russia) are all not getting along with one another and are involved in proxy wars. There is a reason for that.

The victors of WW2 (the kingdom and republics of western Europe) decided to deviate away from the work program that the founding fathers of the United Nations (UN) counselled them to obey to keep their dominant role and ensure lasting peace. The victors of WW2 (the families/dynasties who control the nations that won World War Two) decided to let the different rulers and political class (judges and law enforcement officers) who they depend on for their wisdom in UN member states keep their wealth, status, and power intact to regard themselves exempt from the appeal to observe the work program that the founding fathers of the UN counselled those powerful families/dynasties to ensure that those servants obey to keep their dominant role. Most importantly, the victors of WW2 (the families/dynasties who control the nations that won World War Two) granted non-state actors and international institutions such as the UN System, intergovernmental organizations, non-governmental organizations, or multinational corporations the right to become primary actors with them in international affairs.

“Rats in the ranks” is an expression that refers to individuals who chew their way through the ranks and cause serious damage while doing it; when all is said and done, it is either impossible to fix the damage they caused, and to repair what they damaged takes a very long time.

The book “Face the Music” is an essay that attempts to show how this priceless goal, which the victors of WW2 (the families/dynasties who control the international order or money supply of the world) laid out and began pursuing in the aftermath of WW2 to keep their dominant role and ensure lasting peace, means nothing when the people who are called upon to uphold the international postwar world order (i.e., rulers and political class, or human development experts) do not practice what they preach.

The work tries to show how the rulers and political class (judges and law enforcement officers) and non-state actors and international institutions (such as the UN system, intergovernmental organizations, non-governmental organizations, or multinational corporations), whom the victors of WW2 (the families/dynasties who control the nations that won World War Two) depend on for their wisdom to keep their power, wealth, and status intact, are breaking down the Anglosphere (Great Britain and the United States) into a simpler form in the same way natural decomposition breaks down organic substances into simpler organic or inorganic matter.

Specifically, the work aims to warn the principal custodians of the Anglosphere (Great Britain and the United States) about the dangers of allowing the UN system, along with non-state actors and international institutions, to rival governments in UN member states, as this could result in the new legal entity acting as an economic operator (a den of thieves) continuing to alter people’s consciousness, destroy traditions and culture, and ultimately contribute to the collapse of the Anglosphere over time. That is to say, it leads to the eventual collapse of the standards, norms, and rules that are woven into the Anglosphere and that many generations labored to build.
